An AOG courier job is the one where the clock is loudest: an aircraft on the ground costs its operator by the hour, and the part that fixes it is in a stores facility, a supplier’s warehouse or another airport’s hangar. Two operators answer 24 hours a day, the job is booked on the call, and a driver is dispatched immediately with the part as the only load in the vehicle. All parts travel at ambient temperature with the paperwork you supply.

Aircraft parts travel with their release documentation (an EASA Form 1 or UK CAA Form 1 for serviceable parts) and the driver signs for the part and its paperwork as a set; the driver does not go airside without the receiving party’s escort or pass arrangements, and hands over at the agreed gate, security post or goods-in. Dangerous-goods items (batteries, oxygen generators, certain chemicals) must be declared before booking. Aviation safety regulation in the UK is the responsibility of the Civil Aviation Authority.

The same rate as every job, with no AOG surcharge: £40 for the first 10 miles then £1.25 per mile in a car or small van, or £60 then £1.80 per mile in a long wheelbase or Luton van for larger components, plus VAT, measured from collection to the airport. The driver delivers to the point the receiving party specifies: a security post, a hangar goods-in, an airside gate with the receiver’s escort, or the airline’s stores. Airside access is controlled by the airport and the receiver, so tell us the arrangement when you book and we pass it to the driver with the contact’s number.
Yes. The driver signs for the part and its Form 1, release certificate or delivery note as a set at collection, carries them together, and hands both over against the receiver’s signature and a photo. The proof of delivery is texted to you. Documents travelling on their own, such as logbooks and records, are handled the same way.

Only by prior arrangement. Lithium batteries, oxygen generators and some chemicals are dangerous goods under the ADR for road transport and need declaration and correct packaging by the shipper. Tell us what the part is when you call and we confirm whether we can carry it before the job is booked.
