A large item courier is a dedicated van with one driver: your item is collected from one address and delivered direct to another, with no depot, no conveyor belt and no other customers’ goods on top of it. That is the difference between large item delivery by van and sending something through a parcel network.

Large parcel delivery is for the box that is too big, too heavy or too awkward for the normal parcel services: oversized cartons, flat-pack furniture, bundles of long items, or several boxes that have to travel together and arrive together.
The parcel goes in the van on its own, is driven direct and is handed to a person at the delivery address. No size surcharges, no “ugly parcel” fees and no depot.

Our heavy item courier service covers single heavy objects as well as heavy parcel delivery: machinery, engines, safes, stone and marble, commercial fridges, gym equipment and palletised stock.
Tell us the weight when you book so the item goes in a van with the payload to carry it legally. Anything beyond a Luton van is moved by HGV and quoted separately.

To send a heavy parcel, the same four details apply: both postcodes, what it is with its weight, and when it is ready. Heavy parcels travel as a dedicated load, so the price is the vehicle rate above, not a price per kilo.

As a courier for fragile items we rely on one thing a parcel network cannot offer: the item never leaves the vehicle until it reaches you. No sorting hub, no stacking, no transfer between vans, and the same driver at both ends.
Tell us the item is fragile when you book and pack it as you would for a removal. Glass, artwork, mirrors, ceramics, lab equipment and electronics are typical loads.
A large item courier with First Choice Transportation is priced by vehicle and distance. A small van is £40 for the first 10 miles then £1.25 per mile. A long wheelbase or Luton van is £60 for the first 10 miles then £1.80 per mile. Prices are plus VAT; a lorry is quoted separately.
Anything a parcel network will not take or charges a surcharge for: sofas, wardrobes, mattresses, white goods, bikes, doors, worktops, rolls of flooring, pallets and long or awkward shapes. If it fits in a long wheelbase or Luton van, we can move it. Tell us the size and we will match the vehicle.
Every vehicle has a legal payload, so tell us the weight when you book and we will put the item in the right van. Heavy single items such as machinery, safes or stone are fine in a Luton van within its payload. Loads beyond a Luton van are moved by HGV and quoted separately.
Yes. The driver is with you within 30 to 45 minutes of booking across London and the Home Counties, or 45 minutes to an hour elsewhere in the UK, then drives direct to the delivery address with no depot in between. One job per driver. Call 020 8202 2008 and the job is booked on the spot.
Your item travels alone in the vehicle, so it is never stacked under other customers’ goods or handled at a depot. Tell us it is fragile when you book, pack it as you would for a removal, and the same driver who collects it is the driver who hands it over at the other end.
Yes. The driver helps carry the item between the door and the van at both ends. One driver comes with the van, so for heavy items such as a sofa, wardrobe or washing machine, someone at each end needs to take the other end. Mention stairs, lifts or a long walk from the parking spot when you book.
